I used to have very flaky hair so I used Denorex and it worked.. Used it for several years, no problem but I had to switch to selsun blue (because for a while denorex wasn't in any store around me for some reason), lately I've noticed I'm losing amounts of hair out of the norm, even my mother said it's a little bit more than what she thinks would be normal.. I plan to see a doctor, but I'm curious if this has to do with the shampoo, or perhaps stress(I've been in and out of court for the past year, and I lost my job) I've been working out more and I've always ate right.. I've dropped down 20 pounds in the past 3 or so months..
I should also mention the most comes out when I'm washing my hair.. I've never noticed this much before.. Not even a month ago..
I'm a 22 year old male with long thicker hair.. Very few men in my family are bald too..

stress and losing large amounts of weight always cause more hair to fall out.
also check to make sure u are not allergic to anything in the shampoo, this happens a lot and people don't even realize it.
if ur not flaky anymore, don't use it. use a regular shampoo and when u do get flaky start to use the dandruff one again.

Im no doctor but it sounds like it stress if its not then i say diet. I use danfruff shampoo (not that brand though) and have never heard of it ever causing hair loss. Once the dandruff is under control use a gentler shampoo as it really not meant to be used constancely then if it get bad again use it then. Like you said you would go see the doctor. All the best.
I had a good friend that used ';Head and Shoulders'; fine..but switched to ';Selsun Blue'; and started noticing a big hair loss..switched back to the ';Head and Shoulders'; and their hair started growing back..he said that his barber said that it appeared the hair was broken and very dry !
I have used them all, and have psoriasis to boot, but have no hair loss. Could be an allergic reaction though, that is specific to you.

I recently started getting dandruff. The Selsun Blue shampoo (has 3% Salicylic Acid) I am using isn't working. It cleans out the dandruff and stops the itch but I can still tell my scalp is pretty dry and flaky. I'm am curious if the salicylic is causing my skin become extremely dry.

I was considering buying Head and Shoulders (has selenium sulfide) or maybe something with zinc pyrithione. What you need:
1. The NATURAL Tea Tree Oil
2. Motions dandruff shampoo
3. Any Herbal anti-dandruff shampoo
4. The Natural Vitamin E Oil
This is what to do;
1. Rub the Tea Tree Oil in your head(all over where the dandruff is)
2. Leave it in for 10-15 minutes
3. Wet the hair
4. Wash the hair with any anti Herbal dandruff shampoo, about 3 times.
4. Wash out the shampoo and dry the hair.
5. After you have dried the hair grease it with Vitamin E Oil all over.
Doing this for atleast 2 times a week will help you.
Try it it works!

Ingredients:
Take eight tablespoons of lemon juice.
One and half cup of water
Mix all the ingredients together and apply it on head. Keep it for two to three hours and then wash it off.

One tablespoon of lemon juice
Beat the egg white and mix lemon juice in it. Apply it and leave it soak for about an hour before shampooing your hair.

I've been using Selsun Blue Medicated Shampoo to rid my dandruff for about a month now. What I usually do is rub it into my scalp, rinse, then I use Aussie Moist shampoo and conditioner because I can't stand the smell of the Selsun. This worked with any shampoo.

Don't use it--there's a far cheaper/easier alternative. (And shampooing can actually spread the spores even further on the cat when you wash and dry him!).
The chemical in the vet's ringworm medication is miconazole, and it's in either a 2% or 4% solution. You can pick up a tube of this at ANY pharmacy, it's over the counter medication and does not require a prescription. The tube should cost about $8 (the same tube from the vets is $21). The generic name is Miconazole. The brand name is Monistat 3 (no lie, it's the same thing). You can check with the vet by phone about the miconazole, and you can ask the pharmacist too--they'll both confirm this. Humans who do Judo, Karate, any wrestling on mats, all them come to the pharmacist regularly with 'ringworm' and need over the counter meds. Miconazole is what's recommended.
I used this to treat our cat who had ringworm during the summer. It took him 4 weeks to be fully cured. Do NOT rub at the area, that spreads the spores! Just dab a little on and work it gently along the edge line of the spot. I put on some of the cream 2 to 3 times a day with our cat. I saw hair growth by day 8.

There's this neutrogena T-gel stuff they sell now at all the stores. That's what I use for my psorisis. I hope that helps you, it has tar in it so it should work.

Will mixing Selsun Blue Shampoo with sunscreen prevent sunspots?
It probably would but it's blue green so I don't think you want to mix it and wear it, plus it could make you tan streaky. If you can find some of the old regular blue kind you can put it on and leave it overnight (2 applications should do the trick) or turn the bottle upside down and let it settle and then pat the orangey gold colored substance that has settled in the cap on the sunspots. It's the selenium sulfide in the Selsun Blue that makes it work. If you have a very dry scalp, then try Nizoral shampoo. At one time, this was only available on prescription, but is now available over the counter. Not particularly cheap, but well worth it, and, once the problem is cured, you should continue using it once a week. My son had a very dry scalp, and used this for about a week, and the problem cleared up. He always keeps a bottle n, and just uses it occacsionally now. Much better than Head and shoulders etc.

Possible side-effects include ';skin irritation, dry skin, oily or dry hair/scalp, or temporary hair loss';, but I don't know if it's tied to a specific type of Selsun Blue. It depends on if you're somehow allergic to its active ingredient or if that ingredient somehow interacts with other medications that you may be taking.
I don't know if you can get Selsun Blue over the counter, but it used to be prescribed by a doctor. In either case, you should talk with your doctor if you're worried about such side effects.

I used to go to a barber that OBVIOUSLY didn't sterilize his clippers because I would always get an itchy scalp for a week or so, after going to him. Anyways, I don't go to his shop any more, but had started to use the Shampoo/Conditioner Selsun Blue to assist with my itchy scalp. Now that I don't go to him any more, I have no need for it, but ever since I stopped using Selsun Blue, I have retained a DISGUSTING sulfur odor radiating from my hair and skin!!! I've scrubbed my hair and skin with Dove body wash, Dove bar soap, and even Pantene shampoo, and it still remains. HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS HORRIBLE STENCH?!?!?!? Mix a bit of liquid Tide and water (very little Tide). Don't get it in your eyes. The odor will disappear with time anyway.
I know what you mean about the disgusting odor. I hate that shampoo. Try using a clarifying shampoo. Or you you could try rinsing your hair with a little apple cider vinegar. I use it to clarify my hair once in awhile. You just need to dilute it with a little water and use as it as a rinse after you shampoo your hair. Don't worry the vinegar smell will go away. That doesn't sound safe. Use baby oil. Gently massage it in his scalp. You can also gently, very gently, scrape the cradle cap off with your finger nails. My boys had bad cradle cap and that's what I did. Softened it up with the oil and then gently scraped. It wasn't real bad, so it came off quickly and easily.

You need to get a doctor or a dermatologists to look at your sunspots, just to make sure that's what they are. Don't take any chances. You don't want to use selsun blue then find out it was a melanoma. Pharmacist could probably tell you if there is a better product.
