Sometimes companies release ';prescription strength'; over the counter after a while because they found that the dose was basically safe enough for people to buy without a doctor's supervision. With that said, just look at the active ingredients. Maybe they use the same dose of the same ingredient; if so they should work exactly the same. Since it's only a dollar or two, I say give it a try and see if it works any better.
